Stoke have confirmed that midfielder Charlie Adam is set to undergo a medical with them today with a view to a permanent move from Liverpool.

Adam arrived at the Potters’ training ground this morning and it is believed the Staffordshire club are looking to pay around £4m (€5m) for the 26-year-old, who Kenny Dalglish only signed for Liverpool last summer from Blackpool.

Adam had been a star performer for the Seasiders, but has struggled to make a significant impact at Anfield and under Dalglish’s successor Brendan Rodgers this season, making just one start for the Reds so far.

The Scotland international did not feature in the squad for Liverpool’s Europa League qualifying play-off second-leg against Hearts last night and it now seems his time with the Merseyside club is coming to an end.
