Jol drafted in Stephen Kelly, Chris Baird, Steve Sidwell, Pajtim Kasami and Hugo Rodallega, benching Sascha Riether, Damien Duff and Mahamadou Diarra.

Moussa Dembele, strongly linked with a move to Tottenham prior to the transfer window closing on Friday, was not in the 18 on duty, and nor was striker Mladen Petric.

For the Owls, second in the table on their return to Championship football, boss Dave Jones also opted for five changes.

Goalkeeper Stephen Bywater replaced Chris Kirkland, whilst also handed a chance were strikers Chris Maguire, Nejc Pecnik, defender Daniel Jones and midfielder Giles Coke.

Sheff Wed: Bywater, Buxton, Beevers, Llera, Daniel Jones, Antonio, Pecnik, Coke, Semedo, Madine, Maguire.

Subs: Jameson, Reda Johnson, Rodri, McCabe, Mayor, Lee, Lavery.
