Benson equaliser denies St Pat's

Robbie Benson scored a second-half equaliser as St Patrick’s suffered another European hangover to slip further off the pace in the title race.

Danny Ledwith and substitute Samir Belhout did well down the left with Benson sweeping home the low cross on 70 minutes.

That rocked St Pat’s back on their heels as they had dominated up until then, trooping off good value for their interval lead.

Christy Fagan had fired wide, while Chris Forrester planted a free header over the bar before the lead arrived in the final minute of the half.

Greg Bolger threaded the ball through for the run of Forrester who made no mistake when drilling the ball under the advancing Mark McGinley.

St Pat's had chances to win, but McGinley produced terrific saves to deprive Bolger and Forrester.
