Shelbourne ease to victory
Philly Gorman scored twice as Shelbourne beat financially desperate Dundalk 4-0 at Tolka Park to record their biggest win of the season.
Gorman stooped to head home the opening goal on the half hour after strike partner Philly Hughes' shot had been parried to him by keeper Peter Cherrie.
Right-back Gareth Matthews made the second goal seven minutes into the second half when getting away down the right to cross for Gorman to head home.
Gorman's flicked the ball through for Kevin Dawson to add the third goal on 63 minutes before substitute Dundalk defender Ben McLaughlin deflected a Dawson shot into his own net for the fourth goal eight minutes later.
Derry City ended their poor run with a first win in four game when beating UCD 1-0 at the UCD Bowl.
The only goal of the game came on 32 minutes when midfielder Stephen McLaughlin collected Owen Morrison's pass to shoot past John Kelly from inside the area.
Derry had to hang on in the latter stages after defender Simon Madden was sent off for a second booking on 84 minutes.
