Dunne to face Bosnia, McClean in from the start

Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne has been chosen to play for the Republic of Ireland against Bosnia in the friendly at the Aviva tomorrow.

Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne has been chosen to play for the Republic of Ireland against Bosnia in the friendly at the Aviva tomorrow.

This is despite the defender having a tear in his lower abdominal wall which was thought to have ruled him out for the game.

Sunderland's James McClean has been given a chance to impress manager Giovanni Trapattoni in tomorrow's game as he is on from the start, as is Paul McShane, a late call-up due to Ireland's lengthening injury list in the defensive department.

Shay Given will be given a rest after coming back from a specialist in London who passed him fit for the Euros, so Sunderland's Kieren Westwood will take his place between the posts.

Sean St Ledger has also shaken off his injury concern to start in defence, while Darron Gibson partners Glen Whelan in midfield.

Damien Duff is named on the opposite wing to McClean and Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle will lead the attack.

Ireland team v Bosnia: Westwood, McShane, Dunne, St Ledger, Ward; Duff, Gibson, Whelan, McClean; Keane, Doyle.
