Dundalk will look to secure their first victory of the new campaign when they host UCD at Oriel Park.
Sean McCaffrey’s side have drawn two of their opening three ties.
The Students looked set for a victory against Bray last week, but fell to a couple of late goals to end up 3-2 losers so Martin Russell will be looking for a response from his troops.
Dundalk are without Luke Danville (hamstring) while Mark Griffin (groin) and Eoghan Osborne (leg) are continuing to work their way back to fitness following long-term injuries.
Lilywhites manager Seán McCaffrey said: "Martin Russell is a very good manager and coach. I had him working with me as a coach for the Republic of Ireland U19s.
"UCD play the game in the right way so they will suit us in that respect, that they will be a footballing side. It will suit us a lot better than playing against Drogheda, who are up-and-at-you and physical."
UCD have been without Paul Corry, Gary Burke and Sean Russell while goalkeeper Ger Barron (toe) and defender Mick Leahy (knee) are doubts.
