Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has the chance to equal the club’s all-time goalscoring record tonight after a study showed he is just one strike behind Cesar Rodriguez.

It was thought Rodriguez scored 235 official goals for the Blaugrana but that has now been amended to 232.

Messi has 231 and will fancy his chances of at least drawing level in tonight’s home game with Granada.

The Argentinian, the three-time FIFA World Player of the Year, has scored an incredible 45 goals in 39 games this season, including the second in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Sevilla.

Rodriguez’s goals came in the early 1950s. And although he currently holds the record in official matches, Paulino Alcantara has the overall record of 369 goals in 357 official and friendly games.
