Shels welcome back duo for Derry clash

Shelbourne will bid to correct an unusual statistic in that they have not beaten the Candystripes in a league game since 2006.

The Reds will have plenty of confidence they can turn the tide back in their direction after a solid start to the new campaign but they will be well aware that the Candystripes have begun the new season with two wins against Bohemians and Bray Wanderers.

Shels welcome back Kevin Dawson and David Cassidy from injury but Paul Byrne is still some weeks from a return.

Shelbourne boss Alan Mathews said: "Our objective last year was to get promoted to the Premier Division. You want to be playing Rovers, Bohs, Sligo and Derry. You want to be playing the top sides in the country.

"It’s a great challenge for us to see how we can adapt to this league. There’s no lead-in period, you’re straight into it."
