United wait on Rooney

Manchester United will hope Wayne Rooney shrugs off the knock he suffered during last night’s Europa League defeat in Spain in time to faces Wolves on Sunday.

Rooney stayed down following a challenge by Jon Aurtenetxe in the second half of the 2-1 loss to Athletic Bilbao, although he was able to complete the game and score his 27th goal of the season.

Paul Scholes is set to return in midfield at Molineux, where victory would take United four points clear at the top of the Premier League, whilst Phil Jones hopes to shrug off a flu bug.

Provisional squad: De Gea, Amos, Rafael, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evans, Fabio, Evra, Valencia, Park, Scholes, Cleverley, Carrick, Pogba, Giggs, Young, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov.
