Dunne wins Senior International Player of the Year Award

Ireland's top international football stars have been honoured at the 3 FAI International Football Awards tonight.

Aston Villa defender, Richard Dunne scooped the Senior International Player of the Year Award, while Darron Gibson’s goal against Wales in the Carling Nations Cup was voted the Three International Goal of the Year.

Leeds United’s Darren O’Dea captured the Young International Player of the Year, Robbie Brady was crowned the U21 Player of the Year while Pat Sullivan was voted the Airtricity League Player of the year.

Shamrock Rovers were awarded the Special Merit Award for their ground-breaking achievements in Europe last year, as they became the first Irish team to qualify for the group stages of a UEFA competition.

Former Republic of Ireland midfielder, Ray Houghton was inducted into the FAI Hall of Fame, while former Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved was awarded the International Personality of the Year award.
