It comes amid the controversy over Luis Suarez's eight-match ban for his racist remarks to Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

United, who overcame City 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium, will face the Reds on the weekend of January 28 and 29.

United have won the competition 11 times, while Kenny Dalglish’s men have triumphed on seven occasions.

Other mouthwatering ties include Chelsea's possible visit to QPR as long as Neil Warnock's side get past the MK Dons, and Aston Villa's visit to either Arsenal or Leeds who play their third round tie tomorrow night.
