Second scan for Brunt

West Brom skipper Chris Brunt is to undergo a second scan to determine the extent of the ankle problem suffered against Everton at the Hawthorns on Sunday, it is understood.

Brunt pulled up sharply during the latter stages of the Baggies’ 1-0 defeat and had to be substituted.

The Northern Ireland international underwent an initial scan yesterday but Albion are to seek a second opinion.

Albion boss Roy Hodgson will hope it is not a long-term problem with another midfielder in Youssouf Mulumbu already sidelined with a groin injury.

Hodgson voiced his immediate concerns in the aftermath of Albion’s sixth home loss of the season.

He said: “It doesn’t look very good with Chris Brunt with the way he came off the field.

“It is a painful one. It is a job to assess exactly what happened. He had no-one near him at the time. We will have to wait and see what the doctors and the scan say.”
