Lampard's late winner eases pressure on Blues
FT: Wolves 1 Chelsea 2
Frank Lampard eased the pressure on Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas with a late winner against Wolves in the Barclays Premier League clash at Molineux.
The veteran midfielder celebrated his return to the starting line-up by converting a cross from Ashley Cole with two minutes remaining.
Ramires had given the Blues a 54th minute lead but Stephen Ward looked to have salvaged a point for the home side before Lampard settled the issue.
Stearman produced a crucial challenge to halt the impressive Torres inside the box, before Mata fired into the side-netting as Chelsea looked the more threatening.
Edwards got on the end of a Henry cross but his header did not extend Cech.
Kevin Foley replaced Edwards with 15 minutes remaining – and in the 84th minute Wolves were level through Ward, after Fletcher turned a deep cross from Jarvis back into his path.
However, Lampard restored Chelsea’s lead four minutes later after Torres had found Cole in space to deliver the telling cross.
In injury-time Cech saved a close range header from Doyle to deny Wolves a point.
