Celtic have suffered a blow with the news that midfielder Beram Kayal will be out for at least a month with the ankle injury sustained in Wednesday’s Old Firm match.

The Israel international was carried off on a stretcher following a challenge with Lee McCulloch towards the end of Celtic’s 1-0 win over Rangers, which sent them top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

A statement on Celtic’s official website read: “Beram Kayal has undergone two sets of scans on the ankle injury sustained on Wednesday evening and results received today have revealed that unfortunately he will be out of action for at least one month.

“The midfielder, who missed the closing stages of the win against Rangers midweek, will receive a further investigation on the injury in one week.”
