Healy on Leesiders' radar

Cork City have spoken to former midfielder Colin Healy, whose contract with Ipswich Town at Portman Road has been terminated by mutual consent, according to the Evening Echo in Cork.

City boss Tommy Dunne spoke to the Ballincollig man this week but Healy’s immediate future is undecided.

“We have been keeping tabs on Colin and we will continue to monitor his situation.

“A few English clubs may well be interested in him but we will keep tracking his situation,” said Dunne who signed back defender Ian Turner last night.

The versatile defender has signed a one-year extension with City and talks will continue over the weekend with Davin O’Neill, Vinny Sullivan and club captain Greg O’Halloran.

City are still waiting to hear back from Mathew Blinkhorn’s English-based agent after making him an offer last week.

“Colin Healy is a terrific pro but he's not had the first-team football he was looking for this season,” said Ipswich boss Paul Jewell.

"Agreeing to bring his contract to an end early gives him the opportunity to find himself a new club for the rest of the season.”

Healy joined the Blues from Cork City in the summer of 2009 and made 29 appearances, scoring two goals.
