Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff will miss the game at the Emirates Stadium with a problem with his right calf, while international team-mate Stephen Kelly is also sidelined with a thigh injury.

Steve Sidwell (hernia), Zdenek Grygera (cruciate), Orlando Sa (hamstring) and Simon Davies (knee) are also missing, although John Arne Riise returns after missing last week’s clash at Sunderland due to the birth of his son.

Provisional squad: Schwarzer, Etheridge, Riise, Hangeland, Baird, Hughes, Dembele, Briggs, Kasami, Murphy, Gecov, Etuhu, Dempsey, Frei, Johnson, Zamora, Ruiz, Kacaniklic.
