Scharner ruled out for Baggies

West Brom midfielder Paul Scharner has been ruled out of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash at Arsenal with a knee ligament problem which flared up during last weekend’s home defeat against Liverpool.

Manager Roy Hodgson will check on the fitness of striker Peter Odemwingie, who suffered a knock to his knee in training this week, before finalising his side.

But Odemwingie’s strike partner Shane Long is again unavailable with the knee injury sustained against Aston Villa a fortnight ago.
