Fitzgerald and McGill injured for Shels
Shelbourne travel to Inchicore to face St Patrick’s Athletic in tonight’s FAI Ford Cup semi-final replay, kick-off 7.45pm.
The first division side came back from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with St Pat’s in Friday’s clash at Tolka Park.
Shels boss Alan Mathews must plan without injured pair Lorcan Fitzgerald and David McGill, while Karl Bermingham and Conan Byrne are also struggling with injuries and will have a fitness test ahead of the game.
Gareth Matthews returns to the squad after serving a suspension.
Saints boss Pete Mahon is missing several first team players, including Shane Guthrie, John O’Connor and Sean O’Connor as are all cup-tied.
And St Pat’s squad is further depleted as Dave Mulcahy, Derek Pender, Anthony Murphy and Paul Crowley are all ruled out due to suspension.
Derek Doyle (calf) and Danny North (hamstring) are expected to train tomorrow and should be available for selection.
Speaking ahead of the semi-final replay, Mahon said: “We didn’t play as well as I know we can or have played this season. The most positive thing from Friday night was our supporters, they were absolutely fantastic.
“If we can have an atmosphere like the European nights we had this summer then it will be great inspiration for the team.”
Extra time and penalties will settle the tie if the sides are level at full time.
