No problems for Derry against Galway
Derry City 4 Galway United 0
Derry put their Tallaght Stadium disappointment of last Thursday night behind them to edge closer to European qualification with tonight's facile win over bottom side Galway United at the Brandywell.
Utterly dominant from the start, Derry’s pressure first told for the opening goal on 16 minutes when striker Patrick McEleney ran through to round visiting keeper Conor Winn and slot home.
Derry then eased further ahead on 34 minutes. Left-back Daniel Lafferty, a transfer target for English Championship side Brighton, met a corner from Stephen McLaughlin to head to the net.
Eamon Zayed sealed the points on 79 minutes when slotting home a penalty, his 22nd goal of the league season, following a handball by defender Stephen Walsh.
Substitute Mark Farren added a fourth goal right on 90 minutes, scoring from the rebound after his first effort came back to him.
