Shels and Pats must do it again
Shelbourne 1 St. Patrick’s Athletic 1
Philly Hughes scored a dramatic second half equaliser as ten man Shelbourne came from behind to force a replay of this FAI Ford Cup semi-final at Richmond Park on Monday night.
St. Pat's survived a bright start by Shels to appear to turn the game in their favour as half-time approached.
Danny North drilled a shot to the net on 39 minutes to give them the lead after Shels failed to defend properly from Stephen Bradley's free-kick.
Four minutes later Shels had midfelder Colm James sent off after he tangled with St. Pat's Anto Murphy.
But Alan Mathews' First Division promotion-chasers refused to lie down and they battled back to level on 71 minutes.
Shocking defending by St. Pat's from keeper Dean Delaney's long clearance saw the ball drop to Hughes who shot home his 24th goal of the season.
