Students stun Bohs

Unfancied UCD bounced back from their hiding to Bray Wanderers last week to burst Bohemians’ bubble and surely end any lingering hopes of a late title charge from Dalymount.

Bohs were chasing a fifth win on the spin which would have left them just four points off the top of the table.

But Stephen Doyle’s first goal of the season, and a stunning late strike from Darren Meenan, ended that run as UCD came alive in the second half to deserve their victory.

The lead came on 57mins when Hugh Douglas’s free-kick found Doyle on the edge of the Bohs area and his shot took a deflection off a defender to loop over keeper Barry Murphy.

Winger Meenan then sealed it on 83mins when he was given far too much space before curling a delightful shot to the top corner of the net from 20 yards.
