Striker James McFadden is training with Wolves as he looks to rebuild his career after being released by Birmingham, it is understood.

The Scotland international is a free agent after an option was not taken up on his Blues contract when it expired this summer.

The 28-year-old has linked up with Wolves since Monday.

McFadden has been sidelined since suffering damaged cruciate knee ligaments 13 months ago against Liverpool.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy recently indicated he would willing to look at any free agents if they fitted the bill.

McFadden joined Birmingham in January 2008 and made 88 appearances, scoring 14 goals.
