Shane Long’s rise to prominence has been rewarded by a massive vote of confidence from Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni.

The 24-year-old won a move to the Barclays Premier League this summer when West Brom snapped him up from npower Championship side Reading in a £4.5m deal.
