Dundalk through to Cup quarter-final
Dundalk 2 Drogheda United 1
Cracking first half goals from Keith Ward and Mark Quigley put Dundalk through to a home tie with Bohemians in the quarter-finals of the FAI Ford Cup as they saw off Louth rivals Drogheda at Oriel Park in this fourth round replay.
Midfielder Ward broke the deadlock on 25 minutes with a dipping shot from distance that beat Drogheda keeper Robert Duggan.
Four minutes later striker Quigley scored in equally spectacular fashion following a corner from Ross Gaynor - his 19th goal of the season.
Jason Byrne shot against the Drogheda crossbar early in the second half, before man-of-the-match Quigley got back to clear off the line from Alan McNally on 70 minutes to prevent Drogheda getting back into the game.
Substitute Jordan White got Drogheda's consolation goal in the third minute of stoppage time.
