Daryl Kavanagh returned to haunt his former club with two goals as St. Patrick's eased into the quarter-finals of the FAI Ford Cup at the RSC.

The St. Pat's attacker all but ended the match as a contest with both his strikes inside three minutes midway through the first half.

The opener came on 17 minutes when Kavanagh headed home after Blues failed to clear when keeper Kevin Burns parried away a header from Evan McMillan following Shane McFaul's corner.

Kavanagh was there again three minutes later to power past Kenny Browne and shoot beyond Burns.

The third goal arrived two minutes into the second half when Browne handled inside the area after his mistake gifted the ball to Kavanagh.

Browne was booked and Stephen Bradley stepped up to score from the spot.
