Keane scores on Galaxy debut
Robbie Keane marked his Los Angeles Galaxy debut with a goal as his new side defeated San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 at the Home Depot Centre.
Republic of Ireland international Keane became one of the hottest properties in Major League Soccer when he swapped Tottenham for Galaxy and showed what he can do by breaking the deadlock after 21 minutes.
Mike Magee, who replaced him 18 minutes from time, added the second for the Western conference leaders, while Steven Beitashour saw red for the Earthquakes.
Colorado Rapids drew 2-2 with Chivas USA after taking the lead twice.
Goals from dellow Irish international Caleb Folan (13) and Nick LaBrocca (36) cancelled each other out before Jeff Larentowitcz and Laurent Courtois (86) did the same.
Seattle Sounders leapfrogged FC Dallas in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference with a 1-0 win that sent them second behind Galaxy.
Mauro Rosales was the scorer after 16 minutes, with a second-half red card for Daniel Cruz helping Seattle hold on to the points.
