Two-goal Nani the hero as Man Utd take Shield

FT: Manchester City 2 Manchester United 3

Nani struck his second goal in stoppage time as Manchester United came from 2-0 down to beat arch rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield.

The Portugal playmaker broke clear from the halfway line in the fourth minute of time added on to follow up his sublime equaliser earlier in the second half.

City had capitalised on two David de Gea errors to go ahead through Joleon Lescott and Edin Dzeko but Chris Smalling halved the deficit after the break.

Adam Johnson came on for Milner for City and created an opportunity for himself on the edge of the area but De Gea beat out his snap-shot.

Gael Clichy came on for Kolarov to make his City debut but Aguero stayed on the bench.

Richards forced a save from De Gea with a firm header at a corner but Dowd had already blown for a foul on Smalling.

Berbatov came on for United when he replaced Welbeck with less than two minutes of normal time remaining.

Dzeko had a late chance for City but shot tamely at De Gea.

United had another opportunity after Smalling broke down the right but Nani’s shot was blocked by Lescott and Cleverley fired over.

It seemed like the game would be settled by a penalty shootout but United snatched victory in stoppage time after Kompany was caught in possession on the halfway line by Nani.

The Portugal playmaker raced clear and calmly took the ball around the advancing Hart.
