Ajax hold out for improved Roma offer
Roma must increase their offer if they wish to sign Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
The two clubs held talks yesterday but Roma’s bid of €5m was rejected by the Amsterdammers.
Stekelenburg, 28, has already agreed personal terms with Roma but Ajax technical manager Danny Blind claims there is still some work to do on the transfer fee.
He told De Telegraaf newspaper: “The deal is not done.
“Ajax are waiting for Roma to change the offer.
“It is clear we don’t want to lose Stekelenburg but, on the other hand, it is his sporting wish (to go).
“We want the right price for him though and that’s more than five million euros.”
Stekelenburg, who has won 40 caps for Holland, has just one season left on his contract with Ajax.
