Matthew Blinkhorn and Eoin Doyle both scored for the second week running as Sligo moved to the top of the table, until Sunday teatime at least, with a third win on the spin.

Sligo utterly dominated the first half as Drogheda held out until the interval.

Skipper Richie Ryan then saw a free kick come back off a post early in the second half before Blinkhorn opened the scoring on 59 minutes when heading home following a goalmouth scramble.

Sligo keeper Brendan Clarke made the save of the night from Gavin Brennan to prevent an equaliser six minutes later.

But top scorer Doyle eased the home nerves with Sligo’s second, and his 14th of the season, on 79 minutes, again following a melee in the Drogheda goalmouth.
