O'Shea close to Sunderland move

Manchester United defender John O’Shea is due to have a medical at Sunderland today.

It is understood that the 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international was on his way to Wearside this morning hot on the heels of team-mate Wes Brown, who was in the north east for his medical last night.

A successful completion of both deals would take manager Steve Bruce’s summer signings so far to eight.
