Calderwood: Chairman will decide my future

Hibernian manager Colin Calderwood insists any decision over his future lies solely in the hands of club chairman Rod Petrie.

Calderwood has been linked with npower Championship sides Nottingham Forest and Birmingham, who are keen to have the Scot on their coaching staff for the new season.

Although the 46-year-old would be open to discussions with either club, he is aware he is still under contract with Hibs and they will have the final say.

“The situation is, as far as I am aware, there have been a couple of approaches but they haven’t been to the satisfaction of the chairman,” said Calderwood, whose Hibs side lost 2-1 to Livingston last night in a pre-season friendly.

“I think there is a level at which it might be different. But at the minute, it’s not.”

He added on Sky Sports News: “There’s a contract there that you definitely want to honour, unless something changes and everyone comes to an agreement.

“There’s got to come a point. At that point, I must admit, there would be some interest. But it all depends on a couple of yeses from the chairman.”

Petrie yesterday said Forest manager Steve McClaren was in “dangerous territory” after making his interest in Calderwood public.
