Galway's troubles continued as they were trounced at Oriel Park.

Greg Bolger's deflected shot put Dundalk in front on 20 minutes for his first goal for the club. The former UCD midfielder doubled the lead on 44 minutes when collecting Mark Quigley's pass to dink the ball over advancing keeper Greg Fleming.

Quigley added a third in first half stoppage time when scoring from close range.

Keith Ward had the fourth goal within two minutes of the restart with Marc Griffin, who scored a brace at Shamrock Rovers midweek, adding the fifth.

Galway got a goal back from Gary Kelly in the 55th minutes before substitute Johnny Breen scored Dundalk sixth 20 minutes from time.
