Pat's maintain winning form
Drogheda United 1 St. Patrick's Athletic 4
St. Patrick's maintained their stunning form as they stretched their unbeaten league run to 12 games to stay second in the table.
After a scoreless first half at Hunky Dorys Park, the sides swapped goals within three minutes of the restart.
Daryl Kavanagh put Saints in front on 47 minutes with a close range finish after Ian Bermingham overlapped down the left to cross.
But Drogheda levelled within a minute when Dinny Corcoran turned well from Philip Hand's cross to shoot beyond Gary Rogers in the Saints goal.
St. Pat's soon got well on top, though, and Anto Murphy got a slight touch with his head from captain Stephen Bradley's free-kick to put the visitors in front on 71 minutes.
Three minutes later the game was all but over when St. Pat's got a third. Danny North knocked down Murphy's cross for Derek Doyle to head home.
Substitute Ian Daly added a fourth goal on 86 minutes following a good run by the hardworking North.
