Dundalk will be looking to bounce back from their shock defeat to Drogheda United on Friday as they take on St Patrick’s Athletic at Oriel Park tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

And the Lilywhites must, once again, plan without Eoghan Osborne who is recovering from a fractured tibia.

Stephen Maher (groin), Stephen McDonnell (knee), Jason Byrne (hamstring) and Michael Hector (knee) are also ruled out for Ian Foster’s side.

Shane Guthrie is unavailable due to the terms of his loan agreement from St Pat’s, while Dean Bennett is a doubt with an ankle injury.

Dundalk midfielder Greg Bolger said: “Hopefully, we can get a result. We can’t lose on Monday, we really can’t.

“If we get a draw, we get a draw, but we can’t lose if we want to keep attached to the group that’s up there near the top.”

Saints travel without captain Conor Kenna who remains out, while Derek Pender is also missing as he recovers from injury.

St Pat’s boss Pete Mahon said: “We have done well on their plastic surface, and we played Cliftonville earlier in the season on one, so most of the players have experienced it.

“The more games we play, the more tired the players become and the less recovery time they have. We have done a good job so far managing the players to ensure they get enough rest between games and that the training is right with such little recovery time.”
