Wexford Youths and Derry City go head-to-head
Wexford Youths and Derry City go head-to-head in tonight’s FAI Ford Cup third round clash at Ferrycarrig Park, kick-off 8.00pm.
The Candystripes travel with a full squad as they have no injury or suspension concerns and will be favourites to progress to the next round.
Derry boss Stephen Kenny said: “Wexford are a fine club. Noel O’Connor is a really good manager and Mick Wallace is a tremendous football person.
“We are playing well and scoring goals but it is an FAI Cup game in Wexford and we’ll have to be at our best to win.”
Wexford boss Noel O’Connor said: “Attack is the best form of defence and with this group of players it doesn’t suit them not to stand off the ball.
“I think it leaves us exposed when we do that.”
The Candystripes memorably beat Youths 6-1 in the 2008 EA Sports Cup Final at the same venue.
