Ireland captain Robbie Keane believes the confidence boost of winning the Carling Nations Cup could prove vital for the team.

The 30-year-old scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against Scotland to win the tournament for his team as Giovanni Trapattoni’s side won all three of their matches without conceding a goal and Keane, who scored his 49th international goal in the match, insisted that morale will now be high.
