Du Chatinier leaves Utrecht
FC Utrecht today parted company with coach Ton du Chatinier.
The move comes after the club failed to qualify for Europe this season, with du Chatinier offering to leave the club before his contract was up, and the club agreeing.
Assistant coach Jan Wouters will take over managerial duties on an interim basis, with a statement from the club saying: “The club and the coach had a good conversation. The coach gave his preference to immediately cease activity with the club.”
Du Chatinier, who guided Utrecht into the Europa League last season, added: “It is unfortunate but I will look back on a wonderful time.
“FC Utrecht gave me the chance to coach this great club and we have all achieved great results together both in the league and in Europe.
“I wish every success for FC Utrecht.”
Technical director Foeke Booy, who will now begin a search for a new coach, said: “It is unfortunate that we cannot finish the ride, but we feel that there is insufficient co-operation for the future.”
