Pete Mahon’s St. Patrick’s Athletic had to settle for a scoreless draw as they frustrated champions Shamrock Rovers at Richmond Park.

Saints had the better of the chances in an entertaining game with Hoops’ keeper Alan Mannus making a terrific save from Daryl Kavanagh on 35 minutes.

Striker Kavanagh then stabbed a shot over the bar early in the second half.

Rovers made changes and began to create chances, the best falling to midfielder Ronan Finn who fired just off target on 65 minutes.
