Twigg and O’Donnell out for Hoops

Shamrock Rovers will be looking to push further ahead at the top of the table when they take on Sligo Rovers at Tallaght Stadium tonight (kick-off 8pm).

Shamrock had to settle for a 1-1 draw in Dundalk on Monday but sit three points clear of Derry and Bray and four ahead of tonight’s opponents.

Gary Twigg and Stephen O’Donnell (both hamstrings injuries) remain out for the Hoops, while there is a slight chance that Chris Turner (calf) and Craig Sives (hamstring) may return to the squad.

Hoops boss Michael O’Neill said: “It’s the perfect game for us really, at this time. We were disappointed by the result on Monday, and felt a bit hard done by to be honest.

“So the players will be looking to get back out on the pitch and make up for that. So to have a game like this on our hands, is perfect really.

“As usual we’ll be expecting a tough game from Sligo, but our record against them is excellent, especially so far this season. We’ll be going out looking for the win on the night.”

Sligo will be without Gavin Peers for the trip to Tallaght as he is serving a one-game ban after being sent off in the 3-0 win over Derry City on Monday.

Otherwise, manager Paul Cook has a full squad to choose from.
