Hunt set for reserves outing

Wolves and Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Hunt will start on the comeback trail after more than two months out of action tonight.

The former Hull player has been sidelined since suffered a calf injury during the FA Cup clash with Stoke at Molineux on January 30.

But Hunt will play for the reserves against Manchester City at Telford tonight in a bid to prove his fitness for Saturday’s home Barclays Premier League clash with Everton.

Fellow midfielder Adlene Guedioura will have a second reserve outing after six month out of action with a broken leg.

The Algeria international impressed in last week’s second-team clash with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

But Wolves boss Mick McCarthy resisted the temptation to rush Guedioura, part of his country’s World Cup squad last summer, back into action at Newcastle on Saturday.

McCarthy said: “Adlene is doing remarkably well. If I had been struggling, I would have taken him at the weekend to Newcastle but I had 20 players fit and raring to go.

“He did really well in the reserves at Blackpool, has trained really well, and there is no need to rush him back.

“He will be okay for the Everton game.”
