Coventry have sacked manager Aidy Boothroyd after less than 10 months in charge at the Ricoh Arena.

Despite a promising start to the season, the Sky Blues have won just one of their last 16 games in the npower Championship to slip to 19th, seven points above the drop zone.

Saturday‘s 1-0 defeat at home to Hull – their 10th during that poor period - proved to be the final straw for the board.

Assistant manager Martin Pert has also been relieved of his duties with first-team coach Steve Harrison and chief scout Andy Thorn placed in temporary charge of team affairs.

A club statement said: “We would like to place on record our thanks to Aidy and Martin for their efforts.

“We will not be holding a media conference today as the team is preparing for the match at Burnley tomorrow.”
