Dundalk leave it late to seal the win

Dundalk needed a late Shane Guthrie winner to dig out three points and get their first league win of the season.

Mark Quigley's stunning free-kick on 18 minutes gave Ian Foster's Lilywhites a deserved ahead.

But Galway hit back to level from a Joseph Yoffe penalty - after Ross Gaynor hauled down Shaun Kelly - three minutes later.

Dundalk regained the lead on 71 minutes when Jason Byrne headed home skipper Simon Madden's cross from the right.

Galway refused to lie down and they hit back again six minutes later. Karl Moore did well to cut the ball back and Sean Kelly steered it home.

That seemed to have earned Sean Connor's side a point, but Guthrie pooped up on 87 minutes to head in Gaynor's corner and break Tribesmen hearts.
