Torres on brink of Chelsea switch

Liverpool have confirmed that Fernando Torres has been given permission to speak to Chelsea after a fee was agreed for a possible transfer.

Liverpool tonight finally agreed a fee with Chelsea for the sale of striker Fernando Torres after days of speculation about the transfer.

The fee has not been undisclosed but is believed to be a British transfer record of £50m.

Torres, 26, has now been given permission to speak to the Stamford Bridge club and undergo a medical and neither is expected to provide a stumbling block to the deal.
