Italian midfielder Mauro Camoranesi has had his request to leave Stuttgart granted and is now on the transfer market after only half a year with the Bundesliga club.

The 34-year-old joined the Swabians from Juventus last summer, but failed to really impress any of the club’s three coaches – Christian Gross, Jens Keller and Bruno Labbadia – this season.

He was jeered by Stuttgart fans during fleeting appearances towards the end of 2010 and has now decided to end his misery in Germany by requesting a transfer.

“We had a very good chat in which I told him and his agent that we would not put anything in his way,” revealed Stuttgart’s general manager Fredi Bobic.

“Mauro has behaved absolutely professionally and, for example, his good performances in the Europa League helped us to reach the next round.

“What is important to me is that we part company on good terms.”

Coach Labbadia can also understand why Camoranesi wants out after a disappointing six months.

He said: “Camoranesi can show himself off better in a team which is working well.

“It is not an easy situation for Mauro. It is difficult for somebody who lives in a foreign country and arrived here with different ambitions.”
