Ferguson waits on key duo

Alex Ferguson will check on the fitness of Wayne Rooney and Edwin van der Sar before finalising his line-up for Manchester United’s FA Cup tie with Liverpool on Sunday.

Rooney suffered an ankle injury in the New Year’s Day win at West Brom, while Van der Sar has missed two games due to a flu virus.

Ferguson stated he is picking from the same squad he used over the Festive period, which rules out Paul Scholes (groin) and John O’Shea (calf), although new arrival Anders Lindegaard is available to bolster his goalkeeping ranks.
