Odemwingie poised to return
West Brom’s top scorer Peter Odemwingie is winning his battle to be fit for the St Stephen's Day clash at Bolton.
The Nigeria international has been sidelined with a knee injury and more recently with a calf problem.
He was ruled out of the defeat at Aston Villa and would have been unavailable for the home derby with Wolves last Sunday before it was postponed.
Albion head coach Roberto Di Matteo confirmed: “I think it’s unlikely that Peter would have made the Wolves game but he will be fine for St Stephen's Day.
“The lay-off has also helped his knee to clear up fully.”
Odemwingie has netted six times since his move from Lokomotiv Moscow, but Di Matteo will still look to strengthen in the striking department during the transfer window.
He said: “If I can, I would like to bring in one player to improve the squad.
“People will be right if they assume it is a striker.”
Di Matteo is hoping central defender Jonas Olsson will soon be fit to return from his long-term Achilles problem and he is stepping up his rehabilitation work.
He said: “Our target with Jonas is early to mid-January. He is progressing slowly and hopefully we will know more next week.
“We are increasing his training this week to see how he reacts.”
