Advantage to Bray as they earn draw at Monaghan
Monaghan United 0 Bray Wanderers 0
First Division Monaghan failed to convert their chances as Premier side Bray, who had goalkeeper Matt Gregg sent off late on, now take the initiative into the second leg of this promotion/relegation play-off at the Carlisle Grounds on Monday night.
Monaghan dominated the first half, but wasted a host of chances from Philly Hughes, on several occasions, Sean Brennan, Karl Bermingham and Cathal O’Connor.
Gregg was Bray’s saviour before the interval with two good stops from Hughes.
Bray were better on the resumption, but it was Monaghan who created the best chance of the second half on 72 minutes when dangerman Hughes shot into the side netting after a surging run.
Gregg was then dismissed on 89 minutes for taking down Monaghan substitute Darragh Hanaphy just outside the box and is now suspended for the second leg.
