O'Brien moves to Leeds United on loan

Leeds United have signed Republic of Ireland defender Andy O'Brien from Bolton Wanderers on a month's loan.

The 31-year-old Yorkshireman returns to the club where he once played as a schoolboy.

United manager Simon Grayson said: "We looked at things and we need a new centre back in there to give us dominance and experience.

"Andy has had a fantastic career, and has great experience. He's a leader and will be a valuable member of the squad for the next month. He brings to the table what maybe other people can't at this moment in time.

"We're glad Bolton have let him out. He knows all about Leeds United from when he was young and being down the road at Bradford. He's here for a month and hopefully all those qualities that he has will rub off on our players over the next few weeks.

"He's been at Newcastle where there's big expectancy levels. I want to see him organising people. He's an experienced player who can bring out more from those around him. We have players who we know are good players and I'd like to think Andy will help them."
