Dundalk 2 Sligo Rovers 4
Sligo enhanced their Europa League qualification hopes this afternoon to move back third in the table as Dundalk finished with 10 men.
Matt Blinkhorn put Rovers in front on 12 minutes when working a one-two with Gary McCabe to shoot past Peter Cherrie.
Dundalk hit back on 26 minutes with Ross Gaynor’s bicycle kick looping over keeper John Gibson after Sligo failed to clear their lines.
Home hopes then suffered a blow on 39 minutes with a red card for defender Wayne Hatswell for a second booking following a foul on McCabe.
Paul Cook’s westerners were then back in front five minutes before the break; Richie Ryan taking Joseph Ndo’s free-kick in his stride to rifle to the back of the net.
But again Dundalk hit back to level with Gaynor scoring with a terrific free kick nine minutes into the second.
Two minutes later McCabe won a penalty when taken down by Garry Breen and Alan Keane scored from the spot to restore Sligo’s lead.
Ndo sealed the win on 74 minutes with Sligo’s fourth goal when dispossessing Tom Miller to charge forward and fire past Cherrie.
