Misery for Ireland as Russians score brace

Half Time: Republic of Ireland 0 Russia 2

Republic of Ireland’s 100% record in Euro 2012 qualifying looks set to end after a first half dominated by Russia at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

Robbie Keane hit the bar for the hosts early on but after that the threat all came from the visitors, and they capitalised with goals from Alexander Kerzhakov and Alan Dzagoev.

The first came in the 10th minute after Shay Given could not hold onto Andrey Arshavin’s free-kick while Dzagoev tucked away Aleksandr Aniukov’s cross in the 28th minute.
